Does the intended job.

4.3 / 5
Strengths:

High quality, good design and meets expectations of a patient lift.

Weaknesses:

The weakness is not with the lift, it's with the sling. First, it is confusing and complicated with the crossing straps and all the different loop attach points. Consider a care giver in not much better shape than the user of having to get down in the floor and wrestle that sling under her and not being able to get back up off the floor himself. What is needed is a rescue buoy of sorts. Something to slip over the head and under the arms to just get her high enough to get a chair under her. Then the sling could be positioned in the chair and more easily attached to the user for further movement /transportation. Also the wheels are too small to maneuver in plush carpet.

Can't be home without the lift

4.5 / 5
Strengths:

The ease of transfer of my wife from bed to chair or commode. The fact that the arm goes down to 12 inches from the floor enables me to pick her up when she slides out of the chair. Previously fallen 50 times before the lift.

Weaknesses:

The rubber based wheels tend to catch on the edge of transition to carpet from the wood floors. Wheels get caught on the door jams and walls. They seem to grasp the walls. Is there possible a set of all plastic wheels or even some larger diameter wheels? I don't know if I would pass a drivers test for use of the Hoyer Lift. Too many ridges in the road.

My wife is 71, unable to stand. This provides the opportunity to move from bed, chair and commode. Tumor imbedded in spinal cord removed 6 years ago.
