Those who need positioning assistance with a low to moderate level of pressure relief would be appropriate for cushions in the Skin Protection and Positioning Foam cushions. These cushions will be best for the user who needs a memory foam base that will contour to their body for stability. Many of these cushions will have either a gel insert or multiple foam layers or varying density to provide pressure relief and body heat reduction.
General Use foam cushions are largely for those looking for comfort when seated for short to moderate time periods. General Use foam will typically give minimal pressure relief and would not be for those with concerns for skin breakdown. These cushions are best for use in transport wheelchairs or when the user will be seated for just a few hours.
