Choices in Lift Chair Fabric

Choices in Lift Chair Fabric

The fabric of your lift chair is an important feature! After all, that fabric contacts your body every time you sit in your chair, so in addition to the color, consider the feel of the fabric, the durability and stain-resistance as well.

All Lift chairs have a standard fabric range available at no extra charge. Standard fabrics are the most popular fabrics offered. Standard fabrics are usually in-stock and available for shipment within a few days. Most fabrics are either 100% Polyester or a blend of Polyester and Nylon. Manufacturers test their standard fabrics for durability before they offer their chairs for sale, so you can be confident they will give dependable wear for years to come.

Specialty fabrics are available at your option. Most generally, specialty fabrics cost more, and take longer to be delivered, since they are custom built by order. Two of the most popular specialty fabrics are Vinyl and Faux-leather. Even though Vinyl and Faux leather look similar, they are really very different materials.

Today’s Urethane vinyl fabrics have a slight grain pattern, are waterproof and easy to clean. Spills and moisture can’t seep through the fabric to the padding below. Available in great basic colors, urethane vinyl is not prone to crack or peel like vinyls did years ago.  Many people love the practicality of a vinyl recliner, but consider that vinyl is not a breathable fabric. If you live in hot climate it can retain heat.

If you love the look of leather, but want extra softness and breathability, consider upgrading to either Brisa® or Ultra Leather® as an option. These fabrics are more resistant to temperature changes, so not sticky in the summer, or cold in the winter. They are easy to clean, can be disinfected and are highly scratch resistant. Very luxurious, these fabrics really do add softness and comfort to your chair. Neither Brisa or Ultra leather are waterproof.

Consider upgrading to a high-performance fabric such as Crypton® or Nanotex® for permanent stain resistance, waterproof and anti-microbial qualities built into a fabric that feels like fabric- not like leather. These Next-Generation specialty fabrics offer the ultimate performance, comfort and durability!
