GT's GC540A Definitely Goes The Distance Confidently and...
Golden Technologies' GC540A goes the distance ALL DAY with power to spare. I wanted this 500 capacity scooter For This REASON, as I weigh a little more than half that, but knew I would be carrying drinks, bags, and snacks for everyone in our group. I had rented several Pride Maxima's in the past and knew I wanted that kind of endurance, but with spring suspension. (Maxima's have a bumpy ride on sidewalks.) I have also rented scooters with capacity that exceeded my weight by at least 50 lbs, but failed to last a day and had to be recharged during lunch! (We had to ask and hunt an electrical outlet! Not this time!) The GC540A dipped to 85% battery a few times after climbing the steep hills at Dollywood, but it shockingly Recharged ITSELF with continued use on level terrain! I haven't figured that one out yet, but when we packed the scooter back on our SUV's hitch basket at the end of both days, power level showed 100%. I did NOT expect THAT kind of Performance! Stats say this scooter is not foldable, but with the seat off, the tiller does fold down to a much shorter height to fit inside a car with a hatchback. I appreciate that my ONE experience is fresh, and equipment is new, but I would Definitely buy THIS Again!
Yes, it's VERY heavy, but even though only 3 wheels, the tipper wheels Do Their Job and make the ride feel secure. I think it could have lighter disassembly parts. Each of the 2 batteries weighs 50 lbs- heavier than most. But the base unit (without the seat) does not disassemble further and it weighs 101.5 lbs! I knew this unit disassembled for transport, but did not know the heaviest piece weighed over 100 lbs before purchase. In fact, the ONLY place I found this information was on Page 14 of the Owner's Manual, but I should have asked Fantastic Salesperson BEV to email/attach the Owner's Manual BEFORE purchase. Frankly, I did not want to be talked out of buying this, and I am fortunate to have a husband with enough upper-body strength to pull the seat off and push the scooter up on our hitch basket. The seat is comfortable enough to sleep in (yes, I did that), but might be less so & lighter. I purchased the elevating/swivel seat and it all works! I was dismayed about an initial beep that would not stop (for about a minute) until 10-yr old granddaughter figured out it was in Neutral. I never worried about street/sidewalk debris popping a tire with solid run-flats. Everything worked perfectly right out of its crated box.

We are now redeeming Social Security & pension contributions. I've had both knees replaced and expect to need a new hip soon.
