Overview

The AS2000-2026 adaptive tricycle from Freedom Concepts is designed for riders ages 14 and older who benefit from additional support, positioning, and adjustability while cycling. The AS2000 accommodates inseam measurements from 22" to 31" and has a standard weight capacity of 225 lbs, which can be increased to 300 lbs with optional heavy-duty wheels. Built with a low 13" step-through height and 10 degrees of built-in seat tilt, the AS2000 makes transfers easier while promoting comfortable rider positioning. Its upright riding posture encourages participation, exercise, and recreational independence for a wide range of physical abilities.

What Makes This Different

What sets the AS2000 apart is the remarkable level of customization available to meet individual rider needs. Multiple seating configurations are offered, including child and adult seat systems, pommel seats, high-back and low-back options, adjustable headrests, lateral trunk supports, harnesses, and specialized footplate systems. Riders can choose between unlocked steering for independent control or locked steering that allows a caregiver to maintain full directional control through the optional Rear Steering Handle. Optional propulsion systems include direct drive, free wheel, on/off pin reciprocator, and multi-speed gearing, allowing therapists and caregivers to match the riding experience to the rider's abilities and goals. Optional electric assist further expands accessibility for longer rides or hilly terrain.

Additional customization includes extended and narrow frame configurations, multiple handlebar styles, three tire options, custom colors, and a wide assortment of functional accessories such as oxygen tank holders, tablet mounts, canopies, rear platforms, and stationary trainers.

Why We Like It

What we like most about the AS2000 is its ability to grow and adapt with the rider. The combination of adjustable seating, positioning supports, steering options, and pedal systems makes it a versatile choice for individuals with changing physical needs. Riders gain the benefits of cycling exercise, recreation, and outdoor participation, while caregivers appreciate the available rear steering and positioning options that increase safety and confidence. The low step-through frame and extensive customization options make the AS2000 one of the most adaptable adult-size adaptive tricycles available.

What to Expect When Ordering

When ordering the AS2000, your provider will complete a detailed evaluation to ensure the correct inseam range, seating configuration, propulsion system, and accessories are selected. Because the AS2000 is built to meet the rider's specific needs, many components can be customized before production. Upon delivery, assembly and setup may be required, and riders should review the owner's manual to ensure proper fitting and adjustment of seating, steering, footplates, and safety equipment. Freedom Concepts recommends that setup and ongoing adjustments be performed with guidance from a qualified therapist or mobility professional.
