Product BasicsThe Zip’r 3 wheel travel scooter from Zip’r Mobility is one of the most affordable 3 wheel travel scooters out there. We also like that it’s so easy in every way. The Zip'r 3 is lightweight so it’s simple to transport. It doesn’t have wires that need to be connected, so you can assemble it in 20 seconds flat; just drop in the battery box and go. The Zip’r 3’s tires won’t leave marks (or go flat) so you can use it indoors and out. It has a nice, tight turning radius, too. |

End User Desc: This unit was provided for an 80+ y/o patient who has a history of stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, hypertension and had recent carotid artery
Strengths: It is very portable since it can be broken down into several main components for transport. Learning how to use the controls and drive the unit is very easy (this is extremely important particularly for the older population, they won't use something that intimidates them). The unit's weight capacity fits most users and it's battery life is more than sufficient to allow the unit to be used over several miles for a good part of the day without requiring a recharge. The unit is also very stable so the user immediately feels safe while riding this on the streets.
Weaknesses: The unit's aesthetics are very pleasing. As an experienced physical therapist there are only 2 things in this unit that I felt needs tweaking: 1. Although the seat has an adjustable height it does not move back to allow the user better ease when getting in and out (patients who cannot bend their knees more than 90 degrees might have a difficult time getting in) 2. The ground clearance is a little low (the unit was used in the streets of NYC and some of the uneven sidewalks and curbside ramps proved to be challenging) I believe refitting the unit with wheels which has a wider diameter would give the unit more ground clearance without reducing it's stability.

Strengths: I prefer my own method of commenting. I was able to have Am, Airlines accept my scooter at the departure gate and load it on our flight without breaking it down. I also drove it onto the Carnival Cruise Line and into my state room. I then used it to ride around certain areas of London and used elevators to store it in my rooms both en route to our ship and upon return to London. Am. Airlines had employees physically take it from the gate area (2nd Fl.) to an elevator then down to the 1st floor and onto the tarmac for loading in London. In Dallas it was brought up from baggage to an elevator and turned over to me at the terminal end of the jetway for use in driving tot he baggage area and on into the parking garage where my son and a family friend loaded it into the friend's pickup for driving to my home in Garland, Tx. After having hurt her knee, my wife used it one or two days aboad the Carnival Splendor.

End User Desc: I'm a 28-year-old with a brittle bone disease, called osteogenesis imperfecta.
Strengths: I purchased this product because I live in an apartment complex in a cold weather climate. I can't easily get a scooter out of the building, so I love the fact that the battery box pops right out. I leave the bulk of the scooter in the van and only bring in the battery box to keep it from freezing and to charge it. The scooter is quiet and has great maneuverability.
Weaknesses: Although this is a travel that scooter breaks down into 4-5 components, I have a lift for my van anyway. It would be impossible for me to lift the pieces on my own. The battery box is pretty heavy, I'd guess between 10-15 lbs. - pretty heavy for me, also. I found that I can roll it around in one of those "back pack on wheels". Not a real weakness, just a heads-up for a potential buyer. I'd have to say that the only "weakness" I've found thus far is the controls. The right hand HAS to control forward motion and the left hand HAS to control reverse motion. I'm accustomed to being able to drive with whichever hand I want. Keep in mind also, that the scooter doesn't have a huge ground clearance - you're not going to be going over curbs or anything like that, but I haven't had any problems with that aspect.

Strengths: Portability. More people would buy this scooter if they knew about it's portability. No special Van or Truck needed. No Carrier needed. Just take it apart and put it in the trunk, or put the pieces in the back of the truck or van, no ramps, no lifts needed.
Weaknesses: Suspension and ground clearance. I'm going to add a spring to the seat shaft or the rear wheel carrage. On rough sidewalks it will beat your back to pieces. I have scraped the bottom on a few pieces of rough sidewalk, so a little more ground clearance would be nice.

Strengths: Well made scooter with a very mobern look. Easy to assemble and break down. Removeable battery makes it conveinent to charge indoors without having to take the entire scooter inside as well.
Weaknesses: The only problem so far is that my father is a tall (6 foot) man and there isn't much room between the seat and steering control for him to get on the scooter easily. He has to step over the scooter's foot/battery area and straddle the scooter in order to to get seated. This is very hard because with a prothesis, he does not have much balance ability. Once on the scooter , he has to ride with his feet sticking out in front of the scooter and his heels resting on the front edge of the foot rest area. We have tried several scooters and found this to be an issue with most. That being said, he is willing to make the best of it because this scooter allows him the freedom to go where and when he wants.

End User Desc: I am Patti, not Deidre. Dee, my granddaughter, bought it for me.
Strengths: I can barely walk, but I am able to take it apart, put it in the trunk of any car, including my granddaughter's VW Bug and put it back together. It goes through even the narrowest of ailes in stores. I am very mobile with this new scooter, unlike my powerchair.
Weaknesses: The only weakness I have found is that it doesn't clear even the lowest of threshholds or pavements. Here in Arizona we don't have regular curbs most places, just shallow gullies and I have to get off, lift it over the gully and then get back on, where there are no handicap curbs.

Strengths: I don't have other scooters to compare it to, but this one is very satisfactory. I must have read 200 reviews of different scooters. I would like to have had one that was lighter but it was back ordered. I have not had any trouble putting it together or using it. The cushion in the seat is good. Nothing has broken nor been any trouble. For the price, I couldn't be more satisfied.

End User Desc: I am a male, 57 years old, with Multiple Sclerosis. I can walk, but not very far and cannot stand on my feet for very long.
Strengths: Easy to operate. Easy to transport. Looks kind of sporty. Comfortable. Can go through narrow doorways just fine. Plenty of pep when you need it. Relatively quiet. Very affordable.
Weaknesses: The final 2 pieces are not as easy to put together and take apart as they say. Also, it's easy to get bopped on the head with the steering column unless you know enough to lock the steering column in the position you want it in before you deal with it. You also need to be aware that unless you take the unit off of "free-rolling" and lock it in gear (switch in back of unit), when you put the key in to start it nothing will happen. Even if you switch it to gear while you have the key in, nothing will still happen unless you take the key totally out, put it in gear, and then put the key in. Sometimes, even when it is in gear and you put the key in, it still won't start. Sometimes even when everything is the way it supposed to be, you just have to take the key out, pit it in again and then try it again, and most times it will work. That's just a funny quirk about it that needs to be taken care of on future models, but as long as you know about it, it's not too annoying to deal with. Also, the horn can be louder. If you need to use a horn, it's because you're in a crowd of people. Crowds of people get noisy, and they don't hear the little sound (*beep, beep*) that sound more like the Roadrunner off the cartoons.
