Manuals, Literature & Videos for the TiLite ZRa (Series 1)

Overview of the TiLite ZRa (Series 1)

The TiLite ZRa Ultralightweight wheelchair offers the fit of a custom frame and features adjustable front and rear seat heights and angles. The chair is custom built like the TiLite TR, but offers every adjustable feature you might desire. The large 1.25” diameter tubing gives the Mono-tube frame superior rigidity with unparalleled vibration dampening. The  innovative “Z” frame profile effectively reduces user fatigue, ensuring an efficient push stroke every time. TiLite’s distinctive Tru-Fit components give the ZRa a clean, stylized look.

*Weight is based on a 16" x 16" wheelchair and all standard features except rear wheels and wheel locks. For reference, a pair of standard 24" rear wheels weighs 7.6 lbs. and a pair of standard wheel locks weighs 0.9 lbs.

Measuring Guide

View Detailed Measurements

Seat Depth1
Measure from the most posterior point of the body to the inside of the knee, minus at least two inches. Some prefer more leg overhang to make room for their hand when lifting their leg.

Back Height2
Measured from the seat base to the top of the wheelchair back. Depends on how much upper back support is needed, and also affects freedom for the upper body to rotate.

Rear Seat to Floor3
Measurement from the ground to the rear seat edge. Relative to the front seat-to-floor dimension, this determines the rearward slope ("dump" or "squeeze") of the wheelchair seat.

Hanger Angle4
Determines how far the toes extend away from the body, measured from the horizontal. A tighter angle allows the wheelchair to turn around in less space. Depends in part on ability of the knee to bend towards the perpendicular.

Seat Width5
Determined by the widest point of the body from knee to hip, plus an inch to ensure room to move. Consider bulk of clothing, particularly a heavy winter coat, if relevant.

Wheel Camber6
Angle of the wheel relative to the vertical. More camber improves stability and agility, but also limits ability to pass through narrow spaces. A typical daily wheelchair uses three degrees of camber.

Front Seat to Floor7
Measure the leg from the back of the knee to the sole of the foot. Then subtract the thickness of the cushion when it is compressed. Next, add a minimum of two inches for footrest clearance. Do not add the footrest clearance if the wheelchair will be foot-propelled.

Footrest Width8
Measure from the inside of each legrest tubing the distance or desired distance between legrests.

Center of Gravity9
Measure from the front of the seat back post to the center of the rear axel.

Seat to Footrest Length10
Measure from the edge of the seat upholstery to the top rear of the footrest.

Backrest Angle11
Measure the the angle of the back post to the floor. Ninety degrees will be perpendicular to the floor, to approximate the angle from the back post to the seat, subtract two degrees from measurment for every .5" of dump.

Not what I hoped
Reviewer: M. from TOPANGA, CA

End User Desc: 51, progressive MS, formerly very active

Strengths: Comfortable. Manueverable.

Weaknesses: 40lbs assembled. NaturalFit handrims have interior tabs that interfere with my grip when braking. Frame and components badly scratched after only three weeks lite use.

love my chair!
Reviewer: O. from Roseville, CA

End User Desc: 34 year old with MS recently confined to a wheelchair.

Strengths: Adjustability - great for a first chair. Lightweight. Very stylish.

Weaknesses: The quad release could lock better - it sticks out beyond the wheel and sometimes gets bumped.

Well built
Reviewer: F. from Westfield, NJ

End User Desc: Bill F. 61 yrs Partial paralysis lower extremities. Use curtches, walker and a chair

Strengths: Well designed and built. Welds are beautiful. Easy to use. folding back is great as are the folding push handles.

Weaknesses: Scissor brakes are a disaster. They require the user to reach under the seat almost halfway to the back of the chair to set or release them. Angle of the lever to set the brakes can make it difficult to get enough leverage. The adjustability of this chair makes it heavier than I had expectd.

Beautifully constructed.
Reviewer: F. from Westfield, NJ

End User Desc: Partial paralysis lower extremities. Part time chair user. 61 yrs

Strengths: Well designed and built. Some exceptions to that but it is a smooth riding chair.

Weaknesses: New aluminum scissor brakes are a disaster. The handle to activate them is about 6" back from the cushion edge under the chair, by the cross strut. Ihave to lean so far forward, I am close to tipping forward. A terrible design. This adjustable chair is heavier than you might expect.

very lightweight - better than my old Colours in all ways
Reviewer: Z. from Payson, UT

End User Desc: progressive chronic illness, age 58

Strengths: The TiLite ZRa is extremely light, very smooth and easy to push and take apart. Fits easily into our 2-door car in the backseat, taken down. It rolls very smoothly and appears to adjust quickly, as advertised, though I haven't done it yet.

Weaknesses: I only wish there were a way to "try out" the product and all its various possibilities and features before buying - the back angle wasn't right, out of the box (it's adjustable, so no real problem). I just would have loved to have gotten it right without question.
