Overview of the Pronto M51
The Pronto M51 is a great indoor/outdoor power wheelchair with Sure Step® technology to ensure maximum stability. The Sure Step® suspension automatically adjusts to keep all six wheels on the ground at all times, even when clearing obstacles up to two inches. The M51 also includes the programmable MK5 electronic controller for precise, custom driver control.
It also has a medium-back van seat with semi-recline and adjustable armrests. This allows you to adjust the seat to the most comfortable position for your needs. This power wheelchair also features a sleek, stylish design with shrouds available in two great colors – deep blue pearl and candy apple red.
Choose the Pronto M51 powerchair, a great combination of power and performance.
What Makes This Different
The Invacare Pronto M51 has a tight, 19.5" turning radius, which makes it great to use in small spaces inside the home and out in public. In addition, the 2" ground clearance and 9º incline rating allow it to be used outdoors in uneven terrains.
Why We Like It
We like the great standard features of the M51. No need to pay extra for full-length height adjustable armrests and a full, supportive back. The Pronto M51 is also very durable and has the exclusive Sure Step suspension, you can't ask for better standard features.
What You Need to Know When Ordering
The Invacare Pronto M51 comes standard with a one-year in-home service contract. This service contract pays for a technician to come to your home in the event of an issue and he will assess and later repair your chair, free of charge. For added peace of mind, consider upgrading to the two- or three-year service plan. Also, the Compass HD is delivered via a freight company by a Curbside delivery service. The freight company will call and schedule a delivery time and bring the box to your home, but they will not bring it into your home. And, if you have any stairs leading to your door, they will leave the box at the base of the stairs. If you need additional service, consider the White Glove delivery option. This service will deliver your chair to a trained agent in your area and your chair will be unpacked and inspected for damage. The agent will then call to schedule a delivery time and bring the chair to you, in your home. Though our White Glove Delivery option includes the set-up of your power chair, comfort adjustments, like foot rest height, will need to be done by the caregiver or user.
Measure from the most posterior point of the body to the inside of the knee, minus at least two inches. Some prefer more leg overhang to make room for their hand when lifting their leg.
Measured from the seat base to the top of the chair back. Power wheelchair riders need upper back support, particularly for the moment of initial acceleration.
Determines how far the toes extend away from the body, measured from the horizontal. A tighter angle allows the electric power wheelchair to turn around in less space. Depends in part on ability of the knee to bend towards the perpendicular.
Determined by the widest point of the body from knee to hip, plus an inch to ensure room to move. Consider bulk of clothing, particularly a heavy winter coat, if relevant.
Front Seat to Floor5
Measure the leg from the back of the knee to the sole of the foot. Then subtract the thickness of the cushion when it is compressed. Next, add a minimum of two inches for footrest clearance. Electric power wheelchairs are almost never foot-propelled by the user - so excluding the additional two inch footrest height for propelling is very rare.

Pronto M51 Reviews

End User Desc: Person in 60's with M.S.
Strengths: Smooth motion and great turning radius. Also like the adjustable width of the armrests.
Weaknesses: Would like to suggest that Invacare offer a pan seating model on the Pronto as well as the office seating one. This would be useful when a gel cushion is needed.
