locking the wheel chair into position takes some muscle and exact position to get the carrier to lock. Removing the chair from the carrier is very easy.

It worked for me with modifications

3.8 / 5
Strengths:

IT IS SIMPLE TO USE, SECURE, AND IT CAN BE EASILY REMOVED WHEN NOT NEEDED. iT GIVES YOU BACK THE FULL USE OF YOUR CAR.

Weaknesses:

Rust related to the red knobs and having to park in a non level area. For my auto there was minimum clearance beyond the rear bumper and the wheelchair was too close to the ground. After I made appropriate modifications, the system is now terrific.

A good product for the money.

4.5 / 5
Strengths:

The AL003 Tilt n Tote is well made and simple to use. The design and operation are very straight-forward.

Weaknesses:

The one drawback that I ran into was the fact that this wheelchair carrier is really designed for a standard-sized chair and not a XL chair. Extra wide chairs for 300+lbs users stand taller when folded because they are wider. The new fold down arm that is supposed to secure the chair by clamping across the armrests of the chair accually rests on the up-raised middle of the chair. The adjustable bar the raises the height of the bar isn't long enough to set the bar high enough to get the chair in under it without having to struggle with it. Since I'm under 5 foot tall and am the one loading a 58 lbs chair, this is a major issue. This is the one area where the AL001 Tilt n Tote was easier to operate. The anchor arm locked down on the wheel, not the arm rests and height didn't matter. The company needs to address this problem. The chair folds to less than 15 inches and weighes less than 100 lbs; but, technically, it doesn't fit on the carrier.

So far I am satisfied.

3.5 / 5
Strengths:

It is pretty easy to use (but easiest with two people guiding front and back wheels of chair into position) and it frees up the trunk for other use and is much easier than lifting wheelchair in and out of trunk.

Weaknesses:

Although there was a warning about going up steep driveways, it actually can hit the ground on a Toyota Camry when simply backing out of a normal driveway with a standard gutter. I have to turn at an angle even then so I do have some concerns about driving with it both loaded with the chair or empty.
