The eWheels EW-M51 is a power wheelchair for those who like a larger size as a standard feature. The standard seat is 22” wide and offers a depth of 21”. The Captain’s Seat has a limited recline and height-adjustable headrest. If needed, the seat is fully removable. The EW-M51 is well-equipped for outside usage. A 2-motor rear-wheel drive provides plenty of power. The wheelchair also features a stability suspension system to smooth out your ride. The pneumatic 14” rear wheels and 9” front wheels, along with a 3.4” ground clearance and 8-degree climbing ability make the EW-M51 capable of handling most terrains you will encounter.
What Makes This Different
A standard 22” wide seat is an additional cost on many power wheelchairs, but not on the EW-M51. A range of up to 15 miles on an overnight charge is standard. One of the nicest perks is a standard swing-away joystick which can be mounted on either the right or left-hand side. An adjustable flip-up footplate is also provided for extra comfort.
Why We Like It
The EW-M51 is standard with everything you need in a heavy-duty power wheelchair - no need for upgrades or add-ons! The seat is a comfortable 22" wide and the seat depth offers great support, measuring 21” from front to back. The Captain’s Seat also offers limited reclining ability. A swing-away joystick (an additional cost on most power wheelchairs) is included and can be mounted on either side, allowing you to move the joystick out of your way when parked. The suspension system provides a smooth, even ride with excellent traction and control. The speed of 5 mph is faster than most full-size power wheelchairs and the 15 mile range per overnight charge gives you more distance than comparable power wheelchairs.
What You Need To Know When Ordering
The M51 leaves the warehouse in 3-5 day and ships via FREE curbside delivery. If you have selected White Glove Delivery, expect an additional 3-4 business days for a technician to bring it to your home.
Your M51 will arrived securely packaged in a single heavy box. You might need some assistance from a friend to remove it from the pallet it arrives in, unbox it and remove the protective packaging.

Depth1 Measure from the most posterior point of the body to the inside of the knee, minus at least two inches. Some prefer more leg overhang to make room for their hand when lifting their leg. Back Height2 Measured from the seat base to the top of the chair back. Power wheelchair riders need upper back support, particularly for the moment of initial acceleration. Hanger Angle3 Determines how far the toes extend away from the body, measured from the horizontal. A tighter angle allows the electric power wheelchair to turn around in less space. Depends in part on ability of the knee to bend towards the perpendicular. Seat Width4 Determined by the widest point of the body from knee to hip, plus an inch to ensure room to move. Consider bulk of clothing, particularly a heavy winter coat, if relevant. Front Seat to Floor5 Measure the leg from the back of the knee to the sole of the foot. Then subtract the thickness of the cushion when it is compressed. Next, add a minimum of two inches for footrest clearance. Electric power wheelchairs are almost never foot-propelled by the user - so excluding the additional two inch footrest height for propelling is very rare. |
