Abysmal quality control in manufacture. Totally inadequate...

1.5 / 5
Strengths:

Rigid design, wheel bearings and pneumatic tires give an amazingly low rolling resistance. As would any rigid type chair.

Weaknesses:

Quickie appears to be resting on it's laurels. The caster forks do not have rounded edges. For someone like me who uses the chair without the feet for indoor use, this means that the woodwork will get damaged severely. I had to make a mickey mouse arrangement to try to pad these knife edges. The back of the chair is one of the most visible parts of the chair, yet it is painted black, instead of the custom color. For unknown reasons, the brakes were shipped in pieces with absolutely no instructions on how to install them. The customer rep was not much help in dealing with this problem. One of the COG (center of gravity) adjustments was only hand tightened, which resulted in me flipping over backwards. Because of the recommendation of the customer rep., I ordered a chair that is too tall. As a result, I can barely touch the floor with my feet, my center of gravity is dangerously unstable, and I it is extremely difficult to pick up dropped items. The seat base has a tilt towards the back that is more than what I specified in my order. No tilt at all would have been appropriate for me - but again, I ordered based on the reps recommendation. Despite attempting to do so, I was unable to get beyond my sales rep. and get any real help with my multitude of problems with this chair. From my initial reading of the website, I thought all the reps. had a minimum of 5 years experience. I never felt like he really knew what he was doing. Based on my experience, I will never deal with this company again. Nor will I ever buy a Quickie chair again.
