SpinLife is a contracted medical equipment provider for many insurance companies, and we are happy to assist you in obtaining reimbursement from your insurance company for any eligible item(s). Coverage terms are different for each insurance company, and SpinLife will check with your insurance company to see if the item you need will be covered. (See What to Expect). For many insurance companies, SpinLife will be an out of network provider. However, SpinLife prices are so much lower than the in network providers that it is almost always less expensive for you to work with SpinLife.
In most cases, SpinLife can obtain a pre-authorization from your insurance company so you know your level of reimbursement before you pay for your order. Some insurance carriers will actually guarantee payment directly to SpinLife, eliminating any up-front payments from you with the possible exception of your copay.
SpinLife is only able to process claims for customers who do not have an HMO as their primary coverage. SpinLife will verify your coverage and eligibility before processing your order.
What to Expect
If you place on order online, and indicate you would like SpinLife to bill your insurance company, you will receive a call from a SpinLife customer service team member to discuss your specific circumstances and gather information regarding eligibility. If you place the order with our customer service team over the phone (1-800-850-0335) , the customer service representative will take your order, then transfer you to our billing department to begin the billing process. Either way, the process involves these simple steps:
Step 1: After you order and pay for your durable medical equipment, SpinLife will collect the following information from you:
- Insurance Company Name
- Insured's Name and ID# or Subscriber#
- Date of Birth (both the insured and the beneficiary, if different)
- Insurance Company Member Services Phone #
- Insurance Company Claims Mailing Address
- Prescription from your physician, dated before delivery of the item
- Letter of Medical Necessity from the physician
- All relevant medical documents, such as chart notes
Step 2: HIPAA Release Form. SpinLife will email, fax, or mail you a HIPAA Release Form, which gives your physician and your insurance carrier permission to release relevant medical information to SpinLife so that we can successfully submit your claim. Please respond to this form ASAP.
Step 3: SpinLife will contact your insurance company to determine eligibility and coverage. Our billing specialists will then contact you to let your know if pre-authorization is necessary. If pre-authorization is not required, your order will be shipped to you. Upon delivery, Spinlife will file a claim with your insurance carrier.
If pre-authorization is required, Spinlife will work with your insurance company, your physician and you to secure pre-authorization prior to shipment. Once pre-authorization is received, your product will be shipped. Upon deliver, Spinlife will file a claim with your insurance carrier.
If pre-authorization is denied by your insurance carrier, SpinLife will contact you immediately to see how you would like to proceed.
Step 4: Your insurance carrier will process your claim and generally reimburse you within 45-90 days.
