Measuring Guide

View Detailed Measurements

Seat Depth1
Measure from the most posterior point of the body to the inside of the knee, minus at least two inches. Some prefer more leg overhang to make room for their hand when lifting their leg.

Back Height2
Measured from the seat base to the top of the wheelchair back. Depends on how much upper back support is needed, and also affects freedom for the upper body to rotate.

Rear Seat to Floor3
Measurement from the ground to the rear seat edge. Relative to the front seat-to-floor dimension, this determines the rearward slope ("dump" or "squeeze") of the wheelchair seat.

Hanger Angle4
Determines how far the toes extend away from the body, measured from the horizontal. A tighter angle allows the wheelchair to turn around in less space. Depends in part on ability of the knee to bend towards the perpendicular.

Seat Width5
Determined by the widest point of the body from knee to hip, plus an inch to ensure room to move. Consider bulk of clothing, particularly a heavy winter coat, if relevant.

Wheel Camber6
Angle of the wheel relative to the vertical. More camber improves stability and agility, but also limits ability to pass through narrow spaces. A typical daily wheelchair uses three degrees of camber.

Front Seat to Floor7
Measure the leg from the back of the knee to the sole of the foot. Then subtract the thickness of the cushion when it is compressed. Next, add a minimum of two inches for footrest clearance. Do not add the footrest clearance if the wheelchair will be foot-propelled.

Footrest Width8
Measure from the inside of each legrest tubing the distance or desired distance between legrests.

Center of Gravity9
Measure from the front of the seat back post to the center of the rear axel.

Seat to Footrest Length10
Measure from the edge of the seat upholstery to the top rear of the footrest.

Backrest Angle11
Measure the the angle of the back post to the floor. Ninety degrees will be perpendicular to the floor, to approximate the angle from the back post to the seat, subtract two degrees from measurment for every .5" of dump.

Great Price, Great Starter Char, and Style
Reviewer: D. from Hammond, IN

End User Desc: 34 Year old mom with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Strengths: This chair stood out above even some of the top end chairs for me because of the style. On the picture, it looks as if the wheels jut out more than needed but that's not true. The wheels tilt slightly towards the user, giving it a sporty feel but a more practical look. Customer service was awesome. I needed a new chair for the Miss Wheelchair Indiana pageant this year and I received it a day early! (I took 1st runner up) Thanks Spinlife!

Weaknesses: None. Are you kidding? Why aren't you ordering yet? :D

Thank you for your great service and product.. Extra special thanks to Eric our customer rep!
Reviewer: C. from Sidney, IA (caregiver)

End User Desc: The user is my son age 32 with no use of his legs due to back and spinal disease.

Strengths: The customer support is wonderful. My son and I live several states apart and were ordering online and by phone.. Eric in CS called after the order to go over the order and insure we received what we wanted. He assisted my son with corrections that would have been disappointing had we simply just received a product with faults because we were not as knowledgable as we should have been.

Weaknesses: So far, my son has had it for several weeks now and he is very pleased. He lives on his own and is very independent. This chair has added to his independence and plus the lines are so sleek and racy, he has more self confidence. I have not heard of any weaknesses. Apparently, when he first received it, the front small wheels were not the right size for the type of terrain and travel he frequently does, but he called support and explained and they immediately provided a set of casters that worked. again a plus not a minus.. you are all great. The product is terrific. I was given a choice on payments so I could make it fit my budget.. I have nothing bad to say about your web site, product, customer service, delivery or follow up. ! What I want to say is Thank you.

the most adjustable chair I have seen/had. easy to adjust to fit like skin. Luv-it
Reviewer: D. from AVON, MN

End User Desc: physical disabled

Strengths: adjust ability, and the ease there of

Weaknesses: The fold down handles fit on thie model. while placing my order I wanted to add the fold down handles. and could not. was told this lodel does not come with that option. SO..... I waited till i got the chair. took the back, off and the upholstery. along with the fold down handle. AS I told the sales person I wanted to do. to save money. to make a long story shorter. WHY??????? and WHY do I then have to pay $52, for one. When I could of had them installed there, for $70ish. as in the GT. where they are a option in the back on the GT. wheelchair.

Strengths: the versatility, the lightness. As I said befor, it is so easy to manouver, my son feels safe and happy to be the one "driving" and not being "driven".

Weaknesses: Until now, we havn't found any weakness.
