Description
The Sunrise Medical Quickie Breezy 600 wheelchair is the SpinLife recommendation for a great lightweight wheelchair. Starting at 28lbs, it is the perfect choice when a standard wheelchair is a little too heavy for frequent usage and transportation. We think the locking crossbrace and lightweight design, plus the ability to customize the wheelchair to your preferences, make it the best lightweight wheelchair on the market.

Excellent support from your tech. rep.
Reviewer: Erwin B. from Bellingham, WA (caregiver)End User Desc: My wife, 86 yrs, suffered 2 strokes and other non related ailments, is non-ambulatory.
Strengths: In house my wife uses a tilt-in-space w/chair. The Breezy 600 is lightweight and easy to load into my trunk and allows trips to restaurants and relatives.
Weaknesses: Not a weakness but on occasion the w/chair needs to be tilt back to go up on a ramp, etc. A pair of rubber bumpers at the lower horizontal support structure would be helpful.

Although I have had the chair for a short time, I am generally satisfied with its use.
Reviewer: Robert M. from New Market, MDEnd User Desc: I am first time user. I would have appreciated more advice regarding a larger seat, back and front wheels because there are so many options.
Strengths: Workmanship and weight.
Weaknesses: Being first time user, I have nothing to compare it too. I should have experimented with what larger front and back wheels would facilitate in use, as well are a larger sitting area. I have 16x18 ... I am now thinking that a 18 x 20 would offer more comfort and space, particularly with use of heavier clothing. Although i read all the guidelines for purchase, using the equipment on a trial basis would have added value to my decision making. I can't tell without comparison whether the issues mentioned would facilate easier movement. Possibly your Order staff could be more comprehensive in their review of accessories.

lightweight chair with all the important features
Reviewer: Eileen M. from Quincy, MAEnd User Desc: Spinal cord injury with severe "overuse" of upper arms and shoulders, 58 years old.
Strengths: The chair is a mid-price product with a nice lightweight frame. I was able to customize it with pop-off rear wheels and better tires than came standard. It seems well made and I like the swing back armrests.
Weaknesses: The plastic handrim is not round, and has a channel running on the backside that is a minor discomfort to grasp. If it was full round that would be better.

Reviewer: Juliana T. from Seattle, WA (caregiver)End User Desc: Age: 75; Height: 5'4"; Weight: 130 lbs. The user can't walk due to progressively worsening of Parkinsonism.
Strengths: Sturdy, well built, easy to maneuver and easy to use
Weaknesses: 1. A little too heavy for a woman to lift it. 2. My husband wants to have the seat height lowered; and I still am not clear about the instructions to lower it yet. The height adjustment is not self evident as the lifting of the arm-rests.

A good buy.
Reviewer: Towner J. from Renton, WA (caregiver)End User Desc: This chair is for my 78 year-old mother with severe lymphedema of the legs. Used for transport (push powered).
Strengths: We bought the 16" width with 70 degree foot extensions to maneuver through some tight turns in the house. The green color is indeed a very dark green.
Weaknesses: The brakes were badly misadjusted. You'll need a 7/16 wrench or adjustable wrench for the legs, also. As others have said, there should be more padding on the brake handles. We considered getting the 6" brake extensions but we are very happy overall with what we purchased.

Comfortable and served our need.
Reviewer: Earl E. from Reedley, CA (caregiver)End User Desc: 67 year old lady with M.S. She walks some, but only short distances.
Strengths: Looks good, light weight.
Weaknesses: Chair is difficult to fold and unfold. There seems to be a binding and stiffness in the folding mechanism. If it is frustrating for a able bodied person, it would be difficult for a handicaped person. This problem should be addressed for future purchasers. Painted hand rings were recommended when I ordered chair. After one week cruise they are scratched up. Anodized or chrome should have been recommended. Looks is important to a handicapped person. Any painted part is going to get scratched if it is on outer surfaces of the chair.

A quality product that would be even better with complete do it yourself documentation.
Reviewer: Lois S. from CanadaEnd User Desc: Female, age 63 with severe osteo-arthritis affecting the knees, hips and back.
Strengths: The 8" front casters and the foam filled large rear tires do a lot to make the ride on rough paved surfaces smoother.
Weaknesses: The painted finish on the hand rims started to flake off after 3 or 4 days of use. I wish we had ordered the anodized rims like we originally intended rather than the painted rims that were recommended. Instructions for assembling the front forks and 2" wide casters would have been useful and have avoided my need to call for help. The inclusion of unnecessary large washers in the associated parts bag contributed to our confusion.

Reviewer: Brenda H. from Blair, NE (caregiver)End User Desc: Ninety two years old, recent knee replacement, uses the wheelchair 100% of the time.
Strengths: Lightweight, ease of use and the fact that you order the size for the person. You get a chair that fits the person.

Depth1 Measure from the most posterior point of the body to the inside of the knee, minus at least two inches. Some prefer more leg overhang to make room for their hand when lifting their leg. Back Height2 Measured from the seat base to the top of the wheelchair back. Depends on how much upper back support is needed, and also affects freedom for the upper body to rotate. Rear Seat to Floor3 Measurement from the ground to the rear seat edge. Relative to the front seat-to-floor dimension, this determines the rearward slope ("dump" or "squeeze") of the wheelchair seat. Hanger Angle4 Determines how far the toes extend away from the body, measured from the horizontal. A tighter angle allows the wheelchair to turn around in less space. Depends in part on ability of the knee to bend towards the perpendicular. Seat Width5 Determined by the widest point of the body from knee to hip, plus an inch to ensure room to move. Consider bulk of clothing, particularly a heavy winter coat, if relevant. Wheel Camber6 Angle of the wheel relative to the vertical. More camber improves stability and agility, but also limits ability to pass through narrow spaces. A typical daily wheelchair uses three degrees of camber. Front Seat to Floor7 Measure the leg from the back of the knee to the sole of the foot. Then subtract the thickness of the cushion when it is compressed. Next, add a minimum of two inches for footrest clearance. Do not add the footrest clearance if the wheelchair will be foot-propelled. |
