Weaknesses: When I ordered it I ordered it backword, I ordered the length and the depth and vis versa. Sence the cushion was so thick I couldn't transfer from the toilet back into my chair. so i had to use my old cushion.

Prevents pressure sores.
Reviewer: Janis C. from Monette, AR (caregiver)End User Desc: My sister, Jacquelyn, uses this cushion. As a result of polio in 1949 she has been confined to a wheelchair.
Strengths: Helps with posture and prevention of pressure sores. Helps one sit comfortably for hours at a time.
Weaknesses: Cushion can and does come apart at times and creates an awful mess. Cushions are too expensive to have to replace as often as she has to. She takes excellent care of cushion and it still splits. ALSO, the cushion bottoms out badly. Cushion supplements have to be used, and they, too, are expensive.

This is the best cushion I have found , and I am going to stick with it.
Reviewer: Susanne Q. from Palm Harbor, FLEnd User Desc: I am a 68 year old female who had polio in 1959. I cannot walk at all, so having a comfortable cushion to sit on is very important to me.
Strengths: The Jay 2 cushion will prevent the formation of sores and skin break down. It is also very comfortable.
Weaknesses: The only weakness is that it did not conform to my scooter seat which is contoured. I had to have a new seating system put on that would fit the flat surface of the cushion. The 18" x 18" size fit perfectly.

It is very comfortable.
Reviewer: Susanne Q. from Palm Harbor, FLEnd User Desc: I had polio in 1959. Switched from using wheelchair to motorized scooter in l984. Now I am 68 years old I find myself needing a better cushion.
Strengths: The best feature for me is that it is only 2 1/2 inches high. The gel seat is very comfortable.
Weaknesses: I really don't think this product has any weaknesses. It works very well for me and when the time comes I would purchase it again.

needs to be properly fitted
Reviewer: Carolyn R. from Arlington, MAEnd User Desc: 48 YO F with back and leg brace. Need wheelchair for 1-2 yr recovery process
Strengths: Like the gel section when placed properly. Can move with ease and still be supported. Gel section absorbs many bumps in the travel path
Weaknesses: Hard foam cushion needs to be in the correct spot or it can actually cause pressure and numbness issues. Would have preferred more gel section than hard cushion section.

Nice seat. Better than prior non-gel seat. User still complains of pain some from sitting for long periods.
Reviewer: Barry G. from Manchester, CT (caregiver)End User Desc: Elderly person who is in a wheel chair most of each day.
Strengths: Gel cushion, especially at rear of the cushion. A significant improvement over previous non-gel cushion.
Weaknesses: First impression was that the gel was too thin at the front of the cushion with hard support surface beneath it. However, user has not complained of pressure at back of legs though. Separetly, I think it helps to redistribute the gel at the rear of the cushion after the user exits from the chair to ensure cushioning benefit of the gel is fully restored for next entry into the chair.

Light weight, easy to care for, excellent product
Reviewer: Charles E. from Atlanta, GAEnd User Desc: 40 year old male. SCI at T12 23 years post injury
Strengths: The light weight and the sturdy foam support are the two best features. My previous cushion was too floppy and when I sat down, it spread out into the wheels. The Jay2 does not have that problem.
Weaknesses: When the cushion is placed properly on the seat sling, it can be difficult to fold down the seat. I had to cut off a bit of foam from the back corners to enable the seat back to fold down. But I knew that going in and it is NOT a big deal at all.

Durability needs work, but overall a good product.
Reviewer: Doug T. from Manassas, VAEnd User Desc: I am a 29 year-old man with Spina Bifida. I use a manual wheelchair, and am quite happy with it. I mainly use JAY 2 cushions.
Strengths: The cushion is comfortable, and fits well with the chair. The cover is washable, which works with incontinence, and the gel pad is easy to clean.
Weaknesses: After a few years of use, even with regualr kneading, the seams containing the gel seem to split, and allow the gell to leak.
