Description
The Invacare Pronto M71 power wheelchair with SureStep offers excellent maneuverability and true-mid-wheel-drive performance in a compact, electric wheelchair design. With its innovative SureStep technology, the Pronto M71 electric wheelchair drives smoothly over transitions and thresholds up to two inches while maintaining stability. Another key feature of the Pronto M71 power wheelchair is its ability to be disassembled without tools for easy transport. SureStep technology provides optimum traction and stability as the Pronto M71 drives over transitions and thresholds of up to 2 inches or negotiates uneven terrain. The high torque of the motors lifts the front casters to accomodate changes in height for a smooth, less jarring ride over rough surfaces. SureStep technology allows six wheels to remain in contact with the ground to maximize performance, improve stability and enhance comfort for a more controllable power wheelchair.

Strengths: The chair was ordered direct and shipped to Blaine, WA. We brought it home and had it fully operational for delivery the next day. It is absolute quality in every aspect and I would not hesitate to recommend this chair to anyone who needs or whose loved one needs to the freedom of movement that a manual chair does not provide.

Strengths: Excellent design, can fit in any of the three cars I have with out the need for a crane. Very useful for doctors visits and anoccasional visit to the mall or a fair where there is paved walk ways.
Weaknesses: Reallignemt of the seat, when reassembeling. The rest of the unit is WELL designed, goes together with little effort. However getting the seat back in the proper place to get it to "lock" in is difficult. Possibly a "guide" post can be welded on the center frame, with a sloted plate welded on the bott of the seat. Drop it on the "guide pin", then slide it back.

Depth1 Measure from the most posterior point of the body to the inside of the knee, minus at least two inches. Some prefer more leg overhang to make room for their hand when lifting their leg. Back Height2 Measured from the seat base to the top of the chair back. Power wheelchair riders need upper back support, particularly for the moment of initial acceleration. Hanger Angle3 Determines how far the toes extend away from the body, measured from the horizontal. A tighter angle allows the electric power wheelchair to turn around in less space. Depends in part on ability of the knee to bend towards the perpendicular. Seat Width4 Determined by the widest point of the body from knee to hip, plus an inch to ensure room to move. Consider bulk of clothing, particularly a heavy winter coat, if relevant. Front Seat to Floor5 Measure the leg from the back of the knee to the sole of the foot. Then subtract the thickness of the cushion when it is compressed. Next, add a minimum of two inches for footrest clearance. Electric power wheelchairs are almost never foot-propelled by the user - so excluding the additional two inch footrest height for propelling is very rare. |
