Power Elevating Seat
The Invacare Pronto M61 power wheelchair boasts a standard power elevating seat that provides up to five inches of elevation at no additional charge. This additional elevation is great for reaching items on high counters or shelves and it is also good for those with longer legs.

Stable Ride
The Pronto M61 also has Invacare's six wheels on the ground technology to provide a smooth and stable ride even when the seat is elevated. And with the SureStep technology the M61 can easily drive over thresholds and transitions up to two inches high while still maintaining stability.

Measuring Guide

View Detailed Measurements
Seat Depth1
Measure from the most posterior point of the body to the inside of the knee, minus at least two inches. Some prefer more leg overhang to make room for their hand when lifting their leg.

Back Height2
Measured from the seat base to the top of the chair back. Power wheelchair riders need upper back support, particularly for the moment of initial acceleration.

Hanger Angle3
Determines how far the toes extend away from the body, measured from the horizontal. A tighter angle allows the electric power wheelchair to turn around in less space. Depends in part on ability of the knee to bend towards the perpendicular.

Seat Width4
Determined by the widest point of the body from knee to hip, plus an inch to ensure room to move. Consider bulk of clothing, particularly a heavy winter coat, if relevant.

Front Seat to Floor5
Measure the leg from the back of the knee to the sole of the foot. Then subtract the thickness of the cushion when it is compressed. Next, add a minimum of two inches for footrest clearance. Electric power wheelchairs are almost never foot-propelled by the user - so excluding the additional two inch footrest height for propelling is very rare.

High maneuverability, effective driving power, and ease of egress and exit.
Reviewer: L. from Arlington, VA

End User Desc: The user is a 71-year-old gentleman suffering from debilitating peripheral neuropathy of the legs and arms.

Strengths: Maneuverability in tight places. Sufficient multi-terrain power. Height adjustment facilitates safe exiting of chair to walker or transfer seat. Apparent long battery use per charge.

Weaknesses: Failure to provide cupholders and carrying bags. Electric plug for charge in back of chair a few inches from the floor make it substantially impossible for user to access or most older people. Charge point in base of joystick does not have a convenient/available charger. Floor board is stiff and hard to pull up or put down.

I definitely would recommend this chair as a means of independence.
Reviewer: J. from Dearborn, MI

End User Desc: I am 77 years old and unable to walk. This chair has liberated me. My home is small, but this chair maneuvers from room to room.

Strengths: One of the features that I like the most is the 5" height adjustment. It helps me get in and out of the passenger seat of the car easily and I can reach objects in cupboards, etc. The chair is very comfortable.

Weaknesses: Have not really found any weaknesses. I have a caretaker (my wife), so she plugs the chair in to charge at night. This could be a problem if one lived alone.

Great chair, dependable, easy to use, comfortable
Reviewer: P. from Winona, MN

End User Desc: 80 yr old "OLD POLIO" allover weakness..not able to walk but can stand briefly.

Strengths: worth the money, does it all, also has an easy to use 5/6 inch lift. I can reach into my freezer (top of frig)great feature.

Weaknesses: I live alone and the one difficulty I have is the plug to the chair to charge the battery is on the back of the chair near the floor...impossible for me as I never see the back of it. My neighbor comes over to plug it im. If I had one wish it would be to change that.

SOLID, DEPENDABLE, POWER CHAIR.
Reviewer: K. from SEDONA, AZ (caregiver)

End User Desc: I AM THE USER...ABE'S WIFE. I HAVE MS. THIS IS A BIG HELP TO ME.

Strengths: THE CHAIR IS VERY COMFORTABLE, EASY TO MANEUVER, SEEMS SOLID, AND IS NICE LOOKING. I LOVE THE FEATURE WHEREBY THE SEAT GOES UP 5". THAT'S IMPORTANT TO ME.

Weaknesses: THE ONLY WEAKNESS THAT I CAN THINK OF ARE THE SHORT 12" ARMS. TRUTHFULLY, I FIND IT VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN RESTING MY ARMS ON THEM. MY ELBOWS GO BACK TOO FAR.
