Product BasicsThe Trek 3 from Guardian is the lightest travel scooter available; its heaviest piece weighs a mere 22 lbs. It’s also a small, compact scooter–a good choice if you’re under 5’10. It assembles quickly without wires or clips, and disassembles into four pieces of equal weight. It also comes with a surprisingly long limited-warranty for a scooter in this price range. |

Much easier to handle than larger models
Reviewer: John S. from Escondido, CAEnd User Desc: My wife ordered the first Trek 3 because it was the lightest one we could find. We were worried at first that she would not have the same range as my
Strengths: 1)The heaviest part is 22 lbs. If you have to take it apart, a small woman with a bad back can probably do it. 2)It has a battery sleep feature that turns it off after 5 minutes of non-use, saving battery. 3)My 97 yr old sister could ride it first try. 4)Tires don't go flat like on my old one.
Weaknesses: 1)I haven't been able to attach a drink holder, so I have to put a cup down in the basket which tends to splash unless sippy-cup covered. 2)I wish I had a snap on food tray for use at the Fair.3)The latch to keep the front wheel from turning during transport snapped off the first week we had it. I use a small bungee cord now. Haven't tried to get a replacement part yet. Doesn't affect my riding.

Reviewer: Orval M. from Nipomo, CAEnd User Desc: I am 80 years old and this scooter is a great help to me getting around in stores.
Strengths: It is very easy to put together and use. It takes me about 2 or 3 minutes to put it together at the stores or take apart and put back in the car.
Weaknesses: The only problem I have found is the back of the seat. It will give you a very sore back as it is. To fix this problem I have made a cushion that will fit onve the back of the seat and protect my back from the backpart of the seat.

For my needs this unit is the best I've seen on the market
Reviewer: Dana N. from Ashland, VAEnd User Desc: Male, 59 years old, no use of lower body, progressive MS with it now affecting hands & arms.
Strengths: For my size (6', 185lb.) this unit works. The distance between the seat & the steering column, the height of the steering & the seat back. I use these as I lift myself up for transfers, so to the strength & structure of the seat back are necessary. I have several units for different purposes, this is the unit I use thru out the normal business day. Oh, I have lost use of most of my body, but I am extremely involved in community activities, especially those to empower those less fortunate and I still manage a significant business.
Weaknesses: With continued use as I do, a softer padded seat would greatly improve it.

Compact, light, easy to assemble and disassemble for packing even in a small car.
Reviewer: Susan H. from Suffolk, VAEnd User Desc: Physical disability, polio as a baby. Limited use of legs, unable to walk any distances.
Strengths: The lightness of the components makes it easy for just about anyone to assist in the removal or loading. Easy to assemble and easy to use. The compactness of the unit allows it to be stored in a small space, such as the back of my PT Cruiser.

Outstanding, easy to use.
Reviewer: Donald H. from Montgomery, ALEnd User Desc: Age 69, bad knees.
Strengths: It is easy to use, load and confortable to operate. The battery charge is fast - much faster than I expected.
Weaknesses: The seat is very unconfortable, hard as a rock. I replaced mine with a bass boat seat that works fine and you can still use the arm rests. The charger and/or the scooter should have a LED telling the charger is operating and when the battery is at full charge. The only way you can tell its working is feeling the charger to see if it is getting warm. The instructions should caution the charger is fast and over charge is very possible.

Perfect for travel, for casinos, cruises, shopping malls.
Reviewer: Hester N. from Joliet, ILEnd User Desc: Age 64. Have COPD and get short of breath if I need to walk any distance longer than 1 block.
Strengths: Can be broken down easily to fit into car trunk. I can handle breaaking it down myself and putting it back together myself. Most often, I ask another person that I am with, to help me lift the base from the trunk. I can do everything else alone. In a Casino, I will ask Valet attendent to lift the base for me. I realy like it!!
Weaknesses: The basket comes off too easily. The knob (with interlocking teeth) that holds the controls and handle bars upright can be "tricky" at times - especially if you do not have a lot of light or a good sunny day. It is sometimes difficult to certain that you have the "gears" or the "teeth" meshed properly.

Lightweight, easy to put together, good speed.
Reviewer: Melinda F. from Vernon, TXEnd User Desc: Chronic lyme disease, spinal cord damage, peripheral nerve damage in legs, feet, hands, chronic pain.
Strengths: Easy to use, lightweight, charges quickly, small enough to carry around easily, fits in tight spaces, battery lasts good amount of time, variable speeds. I also love that you can push it too when needed. It's a great scooter for portability and if you aren't going to need it every day 24/7 in my opinion. It's perfect for what I need it for. I have no lift or special equipment and it fits great in my trunck with room for more. I can get it out and assemble easily for shopping or whatever in no time and I'm not to tired for the activity! I love it and the price was great.
Weaknesses: Lock on steering column broke off soon after I got it so I now use a bungee cord with no problems when transporting. Seat velcro comes off easily when transporting when I don't want it to (seat cover) which is just annoying not so much a problem...The seat is not very comfortable but I understand is necessary to make it lightweight, you can bring extra padding if you will be on it for long periods of time. Not for really tall or big people, it's okay for me but if I was any bigger?? I'm 5'10" and 200 lb.

Reviewer: Kari H. from Kenwood, CAEnd User Desc: I am 45, I have MS and I use the scooter everytime I go out.
Strengths: Lightness and manueverability. It is very easy to put together for the most part.
Weaknesses: The designers might want to take a look at redesigning the tiller hinge locking system. It takes so long to unscrew or release and lock. The gears are too deep. And....the way that the basket attaches is rediculous. It pops off all the time leaving everything to crash to the ground. These are small things but if they were fixed, it would be perfect!

Great low-end scooter! Highly recommend!
Reviewer: Carol O. from Falls Church, VA (caregiver)End User Desc: User is my husband, aged 64. He has Aplastic Anemia and survives on blood transfusions. He gets very tired and out of breath when walking.
Strengths: Easy and quick to put together. Fits nicely in a large trunk. Sections are light enough to handle without too much strain. Good speed for shopping. Good manuevering in tight spots. Holds a charge very well.
Weaknesses: Would be nice if seat was padded. Gets a little uncomfortable when using for any length of time. A little larger basket would also be nice. Only good on hard surface. Grass is a definite no-go! Bought extra batteries (over a $100) to keep charged as an emergency but found out after receiving them that they do not come with a charging unit. Poor design for lock on front wheel/steering handle (broke off when putting scooter together for the first time). Despite these few "weaknesses", the "strengths" definitely outweight!

Strengths: I was looking for the portable scooter with the greatest ease of assembly (by my wife)and believe that I got it in the Trek 3. It's comfortable to be on and to steer.
Weaknesses: It's a bit overly snug to get into, so one's body can't be too large. And while its narrowess and light weight are wonderful for me, I can see how a large size person might find balance a bit precarious at times.
