Product Basics

Going to Las Vegas or Disneyworld? You’ll need a travel scooter that covers long distances on a single charge. The Phantom from Drive Medical gives you 15 miles per charge, compared to other travel scooters’ standard 10 miles per charge. Lots of bells and whistles come standard, too, including a padded, height-adjustable seat with flip-back arms, a roomy front basket and a safety headlight. We also like the easy “finger-pull” throttle, a wireless battery pack with a longer range and flat-free tires.

Weaknesses: None. It is a lightweight travel scooter. I have a power chair at home and an old heavy duty scooter for outside near the house. It is just what I wanted and I love it.

Strengths: Easy to assemble and disassemble. Not much space taken in trunk. Easy to operate. Well built. Can be used for temporary disability or long term. Can stay up with family when having trouble walking at places such as Bush Gardens, Disney etc. Made a rack for the back and it carries, camera bags, extra clothes etc. Nice to have if you do not have a serious problem, but just get tired walking. Spinlife has really worked with us in getting the scooter to us in time.

Weaknesses: None. Would be nice to have a stronger battery. I was very disappointed that I could not get a red one instead of the blue one. I cancelled the order because of this but my husband convinced me I was childish, which I was, but I still want a red one.

An excellent travel scooter for indoor and paved outdoor use.
Reviewer: Edward D. from Stockbridge, MA (caregiver)
End User Desc: My wife, 68 yrs, has MS. She walks short distances with difficulty using a walker. She remains active in other ways, still teaches Yoga classes.

Strengths: It is small and light enough to go into our Honda CRV auto. The easy removal of the battery lightens it up, and also allows us to keep a second battery pack charged up and ready to go. I don't need to bring the whole scooter indoors to charge the battery. The 8 inch wheels get over door sills much better than the 7 inch wheels on another scooter that we still have.

Weaknesses: The manner in which the battery cover is hinged prevents installation of a docking adapter for the lift in our car. I am an engineer, and I am working on a solution to this problem.

Reviewer: Margrette B. from Jonesboro, AR
End User Desc: I had polio as a child and now have Post Polio Syndrome resulting in increasingly weakened muscles in my legs.

Strengths: The fact that this scooter is lighter and yet very comfortable is wonderful. We recently took it on a plane trip to Colorado. It worked great. Was able to take it to the door of the plane and then have it brought back to me on arrival. It is light enough that my husband can simply remove the seat and put it in the back of the van in 2 pieces. I can pick up the front of it myself. Great!!

Strengths: Easy to take apart for trunk. Not heave. Battery feels the heavest part for us. The more I used it, I find new ways to take it down. Feels good to be able to go into a grocery store in over a year. Remember to take battery out before you pick scooter up.

End User Desc: I suffer from Post Polio Syndrome with chronic pain in both hips and legs and back i also wear oxygen.

Strengths: It turns perfectly when close to walls, tables and soforth. Starts up fast and stops on a dime so to speak....

Weaknesses: There are only a few things I do not like about my scooter and that is the horn does not work unless you are a mouse or a bug ..you cannot hear it at all and when on the low speeds sometimes it does not move until you turn the dial up to a faster speed and then it is too fast, like when you have to back up you will shoot out too fast. I think i just need to get used to it.

Very good product - have shown it to others.
Reviewer: carrel M. from Broken Arrow, OK
End User Desc: 63 yrs. old - have had foot surgery and cannot stand weight on one foot.

Strengths: This scooter is very strong (climbs well - charge lasts a long time). It's been to State Fair and did so well. It holds up to 250 pounds. I weigh a little less and it does very well. I would tell anyone to be sure to get a scooter with this better, larger and well padded chair seat. You spend a lot of time on it and the hard seats will not do.

Weaknesses: The main thing unnecessary is the back-up beeper or horn. It is quite loud - especially at home and when you are out in a crowd, they don't hear it and even when they can, they just don't pay attention to it. So, I find this "horn" to be completely unnecessary and a nuisance. You must be able to drive the scooter safely to handle it for others will not pay attetion. It is a little heavy so you will need a helper to go with you. Whaterever you do, do NOT take the two bottom wheel areas apart as they are hard to get back together. You won't need to in order to get it into a car.

The best for the money and ease of use.
Reviewer: Margaret G. from Westminster, MD (caregiver)
End User Desc: My husband loves the Scooter. He has Parkinson's disease and hydrocephalos which makes walking extremely difficult. He is 70. This gives him mobility

Strengths: The ease of most assembly. The well constructed seat with ample room and good arm rests. It goes in narrow areas and makes tight turns. And the freedom it gives to the user to go places they couldn't go before. It is neat to see it's use in the elevator in medical buildings.

Weaknesses: I think putting the seat assembly together is the hardest for me. I have difficulty trying to get the locking pin in and so end up leaving it undone. Oh yes, the cover on the headlight keeps poping off. If that could be fastened better it would be good. Other than those two things I think it is a very good product.
