Best value I've seen yet.
Reviewer: Shirley S. from Cincinnati, OH
End User Desc: 50 years-old; trans-femoral amputee with osteoarthritis.

Strengths: I couldn't find another power chair that offered the ease of transport plus the extra seat width and weight capacity I needed all at such an inexpensive price!

Weaknesses: Frankly the horn on my granddaughter's toy car is louder!

Strengths: Ease of use. Small size fits small, elderly woman.

Good value for money.
Reviewer: VENUS I. from New York, NY
End User Desc: I, Venus M. Ilagan, am 50 years old, has post-polio case. Am very pleased with my Cirrus Plus EC wheelchair. It's perfect for my lifestyle and work.

Strengths: Very easy to maneuver. It can run long distances. It can be folded which is good for my international travels. Being folded (for easy storing) enables me to avoid disagreements with airline crew when travelling outside of the United States. Weight is also good - not as heavy as other power wheelchairs.

Weaknesses: Cushion is so thin. It would be good to have something thicker that would minimize lower back pains, especially for prolonged sitting.

Excellent for the price~
Reviewer: Cynthia B. from Midlothian, VA
End User Desc: 59 y/o female w/Post Polio Syndrome

Strengths: Rear wheel drive gives great mobility on my rock/gravel driveway. I don't need specialty seating so it's perfect for me. Its as good as my Quickie V121 for less money. I use it as my back-up chair.

Weaknesses: Would prefer the bar that holds controller was a little higher but see no way to adjust that.

The joystick is a little touchy and moves forward too fast if you're don't use a light touch.
Reviewer: Joyce D. from Canada
End User Desc:

Strengths: It is very comfortable to sit in. It seems to be good quality material. ifelt at ease right away. i found that I had to use a light touch when moving or it was too fast to control. I have arthritis in my hands but the joystick was easy to use. The batteries are a little hard to handle so it's lucky I have a husband to do it. I like the feature where you can turn it into a push wheel chair in case I'm incapacitated. One relative told me it was much easier to use than others he's tried, to drive and manuever.

Weaknesses: The batteries are too heavy for me to handle but lucky I have a husband to help me. It cannot be moved if it's stopped but the turn off to push wheelchair is a big help. It's too heavy to get out of the house without a ramp as we have stairs at both doors. I wish this product was available in Canada as I had trouble with customs at the border. They kept it for 10 days until I sent them 3 pieces of ID. I know there is a DRIVE Pollywog, at Shoppers' Home Health Care, but no Cirrus, but it's self propelling. I wish there was a key START as it's too easy for kids or others to start it if it isn't watched carefully. I would not want to leave it anywhere there's a crowd , to sit at a table when we're eating out, as it's too easy to just get on it and ride away. We'll need to put a lock on it.

Reviewer: Erick J. from Anaheim, CA (caregiver)

Mom loves the chair.
Reviewer: Dorothy M. from Louisville, KY (caregiver)
End User Desc: Mother is 79 and has had a stroke on the left which was her donimate side. She is mentally alert and today is going to the zoo with the nursing home

Strengths: Joy stick is easy to use with alittle practice. The back comes off which makes it fit in the back of a Toyota Highlander buy using metal ramps. Turns is a very small space.

Weaknesses: Because of the left side deficit my mother has gotten too close to items on her left side. She has also backed into the wall not knowning the wheels and roll bars stick out beyond the back of the chair. As a result the clips on the roll bars that keep them in place have broken off. The plastic supports in the wholes of the leg plates support have also broken which made them loose. Neither of these keep the chair from being useful but I feel the pieces could have been made of better material. We also got a gel pillow for the seat. The seat is right on top of the battery.

MAINTAINABILITY PROBLEM
Reviewer: John H. from Newport Beach, CA
End User Desc:

Strengths: The chair functions very well.

Weaknesses: Where the chair falls down is the expense of replacing the cheap PLASTIC ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS. Drive Medical does not offer replacement connections if they break. You either have to buy a new motor or new controller at a cost in the hundreds of dollars for a $2dollar part. It seems rediculous.I had to buy 2nd chair- it was cheaper than replacing both the motor and controller since Drive Medical does not sell replacement plastic plugs.

Reviewer: Susan D. from Washington, DC
End User Desc: Middle aged woman with significant post polio Paralysis.

Strengths: Well designed with enough power and range for an active individual . Easy to manage both as a user and an assistant.

Weaknesses: The foot rest assembly is too easily bent so care must be given. Be sure to keep the foot rests high enough to make good ground clearance .

Fast, solid, long range, maneuverable, heavy frame
Reviewer: Christopher P. from Missouri City, TX
End User Desc: Age 50, Parkinsons,

Strengths: Solid, rugged, surprisingly maneuverable, very fast, very long range, charge lasts a long time, comfortable. It can negotiate small bumps well due to larger than average wheels. Very low price. Suitable for in home and outdoor use. A better choice than a scooter.

Weaknesses: The main weakness is that it is heavy, because the frame is steel and the dual high power motors and dual high capacity batteries. The charger is compact, but the fan is noisy.

I am very impressed with the engineering quality and functionality of the chair.
Reviewer: John H. from Newport Beach, CA
End User Desc: Limited mobility

Strengths: My Cirrus Plus has all of the functionality of chairs costing as much as 4 times as much, without all of the weight (89 lbs. versus 200 - 300 lbs) which makes transportability a very key feature. We simply remove the batteries, fold the chair, and throw it into our Dodge Magnum with no ramps etc. The chair has all of the power anyone would ever want, it is manuverable and reaches speeds even my wife cannot keep up with. One of our first trips was to the swapmeet, and we had another individual who was so impressed with my chair (their chair cost $10k and weighed some 300 lbs., which made their chair impractical for most vehicles). They were so impressed, they were going to go buy one as well.

Seat Depth1
Measure from the most posterior point of the body to the inside of the knee, minus at least two inches. Some prefer more leg overhang to make room for their hand when lifting their leg.

Back Height2
Measured from the seat base to the top of the chair back. Power wheelchair riders need upper back support, particularly for the moment of initial acceleration.

Hanger Angle3
Determines how far the toes extend away from the body, measured from the horizontal. A tighter angle allows the electric power wheelchair to turn around in less space. Depends in part on ability of the knee to bend towards the perpendicular.

Seat Width4
Determined by the widest point of the body from knee to hip, plus an inch to ensure room to move. Consider bulk of clothing, particularly a heavy winter coat, if relevant.

Front Seat to Floor5
Measure the leg from the back of the knee to the sole of the foot. Then subtract the thickness of the cushion when it is compressed. Next, add a minimum of two inches for footrest clearance. Electric power wheelchairs are almost never foot-propelled by the user - so excluding the additional two inch footrest height for propelling is very rare.
